Corky was found wandering on a ranch in east Texas. The folks that found her said she was injured – half of one of her ears was missing and she had some gouge wounds on her legs. The assumption was that she had been mauled by an animal. They took her to their vet and had her evaluated – she was heartworm positive and the vet treated her injuries. He didn’t do xrays. She came into rescue and we began heartworm treatment. In her foster home, she displayed extreme discomfort when being picked up. She also appeared to have some bladder control issues. Upon further evaluation by our rescue vet, it was determined that she has most probably been hit by a car since her pelvis is broken and she has severe hip dysplasia. The accident may have also damaged her bladder muscles.
She is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and she has been spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations. We were able to pay for that part of her care. We need funding to get her broken pelvis and hips evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon.
Poor Corky! So many difficulties! Wounds, heartworm, and internal injuries!
Thanks to the kindness of CorgiAid supporters, Corky will be evaluated to see what can be done to help her be comfortable.
