Here is Dickens’ story, in the words of his rescuer:
“Dickens was found wandering in Ojai which is a very coyote infested area. He could hardly walk and was in poor shape. 5 days in the cold shelter didn’t help. The Pembroke club was unable to pull him so I went to get him. He couldn’t walk at that time and I had to carry him out. “Dickens needed blood work, dental for 2 broken teeth that had the nerves exposed and xrays to determine why he couldn’t walk and if there was anything we could. He was in great pain and cried whenever any of his feet were touched.
“Two teeth had to be removed. The injuries to the left hind leg were never treated so it cannot be fixed but with Rimadyl and some weight lose, he can get around. The vet stated he must have been in extreme pain but would be ok with some care.
“Dickens is very sweet and is most grateful for the bed by the fireplace.”
