Alis aka Alice

Here is Alis’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Alis was brought into our city pound as a stray. She was dragging her back end. The staff assumed she had been hit by a car and sent her to Heartland Animal Hospital. At the end of her stray hold the staff had grown very attached to the crippled dog they named Alis. They looked for rescue to take her. They gave her vaccinations, heartworm test and x-rayed her at a discount and donated her microchip, a new collar and gave her a bath. Her diagnosis was paraplegic with severe periodontal disease. We took her to a specialist and he recommended a CT scan. His findings were that due to the severity of spinal trauma involving two separate discs, poor prognosis for regaining use of rear legs, the severity of dental disease and need for oral surgery, along with the advanced age, it was determined that due to the quality of life, it would be in her best interest to be euthanized.
