Mina

Here is Mina’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Mina came to us from a family who did not have time for her any more. She came unspayed, unchipped and with a knee injury. The family was willing to pay for Mina’s spay and xrays to check her knee, but could not cover any other expenses. We had her spayed and her knee checked. She has swelling on the knee that will need further xrays and possible treatment by an orthopedic vet if she is still limping after her Rimadyl treatment. Last night she developed a severe case of clostridial colitis and was taken in to emergency care. The vet gave treated Mina and released her to us and the poor girl is so wiped out after almost a full day of vomiting and diarrhea. She is now on antibiotics and we hope she will respond quickly.
“Mina is very fearful of the vet (bad experiences in the past) and is really nervous about new people. She is really nervous around other dogs, but has managed to make friends with my Snicket – Corgi boy who is about her age. She has taken her meds like a trooper but requires lots of patience and a gentle but firm hand.
“Mina is a sweet dog who really needs a chance to get well and to be able to settle in to a family routine. She is very active and I feel she should get into some herding or agility once her knee is better – this girl has spunk and drive! We love Mina as if she was our own and want the best for her, and realize it may be some time before she finds the right home for her. She is welcome with us until that day.”

“Mina is doing very well, has lost weight and has not limped at all in a month. Today she got to go for a herding lesson and did very well! We have see no hint of a limp after all that activity as well.
“Mina is a great girl, and needs a home where she can have a job of some sort and she needs a very firm but benevolent alpha leader.” UPDATE, April 7, 2008:
“Mina has found her Forever Home! A very nice single man adopted her and the two of them seem to be hitting it off very nicely.”
