The Story of Lena

Last Updated: November 06, 2009

Rescuer: Tina Anderson at tharleen@aol.com

Here is Lena’s story in the words of her rescuer.
“Lena was found stray with another Pembroke male (Harvey). They were taken to the Placer County Animal Shelter. Even after lots of publicity, no one claimed either dog. I took them into foster care in mid October.
“Lena had scars and scabs on her nose, ear & eye. She obviously had been attacked by “something” and defended herself. She appeared to be pregnant OR in heat. As she was wandering with an intact male, we needed to get her tested to see if she was pregnant, and if not – get her spayed quickly.
“We had blood tests done before her spay. Her tests turned out to not be so great… and we had to delay the spay until she was on antibiotics for the internal infection AND a severe sinus infection/reaction. The sinus symptoms, along with some other issues indicated she may have contracted a tick borne disease. Lena seemed to be such a great little dog…
“Lena has an exceptional temperament. Throughout all her treatment, she has been a complete cuddlebug. Somewhere in her past, someone really cared for this dog. She walks beautifully on a leash. She has great manners, is good with kids, people with canes, noises, other dogs, cats…. pretty much anything.
“At this time, she appears to have fully recovered from her illness, has been a complete lady about her spaying, and is healing beautifully. She is now a playful loving girl, who greets people with a “growly roooo” noise… kind of a “grrrrrOOOOOuuuuuuu” sound, with her bunny butt wagging as fast as she can make it move.”
CorgiAid supporters will help Lena get healthy, so she can live the happy life she deserves. Thank you!

This dog is not available for adoption.
