Here is Aiden’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“This very neglected and underweight tricolor male Pembroke was a stray at a Los Angeles County Shelter. He was released from the shelter due to kennel cough and his poor condition on 12/3/10. His hind legs were very wobbly and that could be a sign of the untreated diabetes or even early stages of DM. He is quite mobile at this point. He went to the vet for the first time on 12/8/10 and a blood panel revealed he was a untreated diabetic and an urinalysis showed he had a UTI. He also has cataracts that are 1/2 to 3/4 in size. His thyroid is normal. He went to the vet for a 2nd time on 12/10 for Insulin and blood glucose test to get the right dosage and is due to go back on 12/20/10 for another glucose test. His appetite was very poor but now after 5 days on insulin he is eating and more alert. His teeth are in terrible condition with one tooth that should be extracted. However, the vet said due to his extreme case of diabetes (original coun was over 700) that anesthesia is a definite no.
“He is a pleasant senior who now is responsing to attention and is good with other dogs. My vet feels he has 4 to 6 months but one never knows.”
