Here is Clara’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Clara came into rescue from the shelter. her foster mom said she was so thin that we had to get a temporary waver for her spay until she was up to it. She was always a good girl, if the foster sisters and brothers started any mischief, she headed for her crate to avoid any problems. She loves to sit beside people on the sofa and will ‘talk’ to you in soft grunts and woofs. Finally, she was well enough to be spayed. She quickly found a home after that. Then everything changed. The new vet could not hear her heartbeat. When x-rayed, Clara was found to have a diaphragmatic hernia of epic proportions. WHY wasn’t this found before???!!! Clara was immediately returned to rescue.
“Clara had lived with a diaphragmatic hernia for over 3 months, running playing and jumping. She never offered a snarl or snark to anyone. When I got her back from the adopter and took her to my vet, a new x-ray showed only a straight length of colon running through her abdomen. her chances of surviving the surgery was only 30% since the original trauma was more than 8 days. Randall loves a challenge, and found her liver and spleen up in her chest. He was able to reinflate the collapsed lung and no residual damage appears to have been done. She is once again happy and playing, but still grumbles about going to her crate at night.”
Yikes!
CorgiAid supporters have helped Clara get her insides rearranged back to a normal configuration. Thank you!
Clara was rescued in Texas.
