CorgiAid’s primary goal is to help homeless corgis get healthy, so they can find permanent homes. CorgiAid’s ability to help a dog who is already in her home is very limited. The dog must be very recently adopted, and the condition for which aid is granted must have clearly existed at the time of adoption.
Here is Gemi’s story, in the words of her adopter:
“She was abandoned and found at the door of some peoples house. She did not get along with their dogs so she was turned into the animal shelter in Torrence Country, New Mexico. From what I can gather, she was used for breeding and then when she out lived her usefulness – was left to fend for herself in the NM wilderness and cold. Her teeth are in bad condition, and she has a few lumps, one lump – the size of an egg on one of her mammary nipples and one near her left hip. Within one week of her stay at the shelter – I had picked her up and she is now living with me, Zieke ( a male tri-colour Pembroke corgi) and GiGi – my cat. She has an apt. to see the vet in Los Alamos for complete blood work and another apt. (depending on what we find on the blood work), teeth cleaned(and what ever that needs to done in her mouth) and what ever needs to be done regarding the lumps we find.
“Because of her teeth condition – the shelter determined her age to be 11+. After the vet visit on 1/23/12, it was determined that she is probably around 6=8 years old.”
CorgiAid supporters will help Gemi get rid of her bumps, and get a clean and healthy mouth, so she can go forward and live the happy life she deserves. Thank you!
