Teddy

Here is Teddy’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“Teddy was found wandering the desert in Southeastern AZ. Animal Control was called by the finder, who did not want to take him to the shelter. AC took him to the nearest shelter to ask who does Corgi Rescue and they called me. So we worked out a transport and got Mr. Teddy (because he looks like a Teddy Bear) up to me. He was intact and missing the tops of his ears and his nose was pink and scabby. And no dental care had been done on him
“Very sweet temperament. Even being intact no ‘territorial’ issues with other males, marking almost non-existent….very outgoing.
“Teddy needed neutering, his umbilical hernia repaired, teeth fixed up and biopsies of nose and ears, to determine why his ear tips are missing….
“Results of Teddy’s Biopsies show ischemic dermatopathology (dermatomyositis). Certain breeds are pre-disposed to this disease, such as Collies, and it seems they are starting to list Corgis too. He will need to take Pentoxifylline and Vitamin E for life along with using Sunscreen on the affected areas when outside. The medication will not cure this disease, but slow down progression. He will be continually monitored for any ill-effects of the drugs. Should be adoptable and live a very good life, just with care and extra medical expenses. We are also going to use cold laser therapy on his ears, to see if we can’t get blood flow to the ear tips, if not to help ‘regrow’ tips, possibly the hair around the tips, so he doesn’t look like he’s Missing something.”
