The Story of Buddy (Davis)

Last Updated: February 25, 2013

Here is Buddy’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“Buddy went through 2 homes before coming into rescue. He was passed from his original home through Craigslist, to a home for 6 months, that decided they couldn’t have him and their Corgi together, so they contacted me. Took him in, figured would be an easy neuter, vaccinate, microchip and off to a home….he would be an easy placement, as he loves other dogs and children…allowing them to dress him up, put sunglasses on and wear, everything. Well Unfortunately, things changed. Buddy on the table being prepped for his neuter, a ‘sore’ was found on the prepuce of his penis. Removed it and sent it to lab, ‘just in case’ Results came back mast cell tumor and biopsy was ‘marginal.’ So spoke with the oncologists and they recommended removing more…so we did that and those margins are now clean. He has a clean bill of health with provisional..must be checked yearly for any re-growths. He has an expectation of 70 months, which with him being 5 yrs now, add another 6 yrs, this makes him capable of living a normal life.
“Buddy has the greatest disposition. He is being ‘groomed’ to become a ‘Reader Assistance Dog’ where he will go to a school library every day to help children at risk that are illiterate or semi-illiterate by sitting quietly and letting the children read to him. (We are hoping Buddy will be the one. We have an applicant who is a Librarian and wanting to adopt a Corgi for this program, as well as be his companion, and Buddy seems to match, personality wise.) We are just trying to get him all healed up and then we will have him try this program. Buddy loves all the attention and with the children, he should get more than he will know. :)”
CorgiAid supporters have helped Buddy with the expense of getting his issue identified and dealt with, so he can go forward and lead the happy life he deserves. Thank you!
Buddy was rescued in Arizona.
