Here is Tulip’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“After having let my phone on silent for several hours one night, I discovered I had a frantic voice mail message from a citizen. The message stated that she had found a stray corgi running down a busy street with a very serious neck injury. She said she had no choice but to take the dog to the shelter and leave it in the might drop. The next morning, I called the shelter and they confirmed they had her, with a severely embedded collar. They said I could pick her up after her stray hold was up. Augh. The day her stray hold was up they changed their mind and decided they wanted to keep her a little while longer in case the owner showed up and they could prosecute. The owner never did show and 10 days later I went to pick up Tulip. Fortunately the shelter vet had removed the collar and started her on antibiotics so by the time I got her she was well on her way to healing. She needed a dental and, although we later found out she was spayed, she had no scar. She has ringworms, but other than that she is a very happy sweet girl, finally relieved to be out of pain from that embedded collar.”
