CorgiAid’s core goal is to help homeless corgis get healthy, so they can find permanent loving homes.
Once in a while, a very newly-adopted corgi turns out to have an illness or condition that they clearly had before adoption — a dirty mouth, maybe, or heartworm. In those cases, CorgiAid may be able to help with treatment for the pre-existing illness or condition.
Annie was adopted with a load of nasty heartworms.
Here is Annie’s story, in the words of the woman who rescued and adopted her:
“I saw Annie on Corgi rescue of America facebook page. She is a 12 year old senior corgi who was taken to a high kill shelter by her owner, who had her since puppyhood. She claimed she couldn’t keep Annie because she was supposedly digging up the yard. Annie came to me from Georgia. According to the vets that examined her, she is in perfect condition with the exception of heartworms. My vet strongly believes Annie should be treated for heart worms or else her life span could be shortened.”
