Here is Scout’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“Scout’s seizures caused his owner too much distress so she called rescue to take him. After 10 years she ‘couldn’t take it any more.’ His seizures had gone untreated because ‘nothing seemed to help so we just quit giving him the medicine.’ He also is nearly blind due to cataracts, and has ehrlichiosis and is 10 pounds over weight. Should we have put him down given his age and many many issues? Practicality says yes, but this boy let us know he just ain’t done yet. He’s a charmer with lots of love yet to give. We’d like to have those cataracts removed, treat the tick disease and get those seizures managed so this love bug can go on to live out the rest of his live on his terms.”
It was a very lucky day for Scout when rescue stepped up to help him!
He has had no seizures since rescue, and is working hard on his other issues (including getting rid of the tick-borne disease ehrlichiosis — which can cause seizures!)
CorgiAid supporters are helping Scout with his medical care, including an evaluation by a veterinary ophthalmologist. The ophthalmologist recommends cataract removal for one eye, as Scout is still able to use the other eye. CorgiAid supporters will help with the recommended surgery. Thank you!
Scout was rescued in Oklahoma.
