Here’s Bacall’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Bogey (as in Humphrey Bogart) and Bacall (yes, Lauren Bacall) were found in the road in front of a farm house in rural west central Texas. The dogs had not been seen around this house before. It was odd that a pickup was spotted driving down the road, parked for a couple of minutes, and then seen leaving. Shortly after that the dogs were found wandering down the road. We think it was pretty clear what the people in the pickup were doing…dumping these dogs. It took several people coordinating schedules, but we were able to get them safely into rescue. They are both heartworm positive along with other health issues that need tending to.
“She loves people, but not other dogs other than the old guy she came in with.”
