Here is Ollie’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“10 year old corgi Ollie and his sister Abby were surrendered to rescue because their mom is elderly and has health problems. She is moving to live with her daughter and was unable to take them with her. We (Carolina Corgi Rescue) agreed to take them into foster and find them a wonderful new home.
“Ollie’s foster mom says he is an absolute sweetheart—he is wonderful with people, dogs, and even cats! Unfortunately, Ollie has a corneal ulcer that had been resistant to treatment with several topical medicines and a corneal debridement by the owner’s previous vet. We had him seen by a veterinary ophthalmologist, and he was treated initially by debriding the ulcer, which usually has a good success rate and was more economical. Unfortunately his eye did not heal. The next step was a procedure called a grid keratotomy, which should have >90% success rate.
“Ollie’s eye surgery was successful and we can now find him a forever home, where he can enjoy his golden years chasing squirrels in the yard.”
