As much as we all wish and hope that every rescue story could have a happy ending, reality is not that gentle or kind.

Here is Finley’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“Sweet Finley was picked up by animal control when they received word there was a dog on the road that had been hit by a car. When they went to pick him up, he was hiding under the guard rail but was not injured. He was taken to a rural NC shelter, where he was found to be thin and visually impaired, but a happy older boy. They called us and we took him in with foster Susan the same day. He was a sweet, loving boy, and despite being almost blind and deaf, he followed his foster mom around, giving her corgi kisses and enjoying being hugged and loved. Unfortunately, he would not eat, and also became short of breath. Susan took him to the vet urgently, and he was found to have large chest and abdominal masses, with a poor prognosis. The vet and we decided that the most compassionate thing would be to end his suffering. Finley went to the rainbow bridge today knowing that he was loved.”
