Here is Shelby’s story, in the words of her rescuer:

“Shelby was left at a high kill shelter after her person entered a nursing home, and the family didn’t want to keep her. She is an older corgi mix, had bad teeth and many lumps on her. She did test negative for heartworms.

“Shelby has been in rescue for several months. She had been seen by a few different vets, who had declined to subject her to anesthesia for a dental and to remove some of the large masses just under her skin. She did have needle aspirates and the foster mom was told that the masses were lipomas. One large mass interfered with her ambulation, and her teeth were a concern for her overall health. Her foster mom was able to find a different vet who not only provided rescue a discount but was willing to cautiously perform the much needed dental and remove what was found to be a mast cell tumor. The vet feels that the excision was complete and Shelby’s prognosis good.”
