The Story of Boots

Last Updated: December 24, 2003

Rescuer: Walton Salley at salleyw@bellsouth.net

Boots was owned by an elderly couple near Dallas Ga & shelter was told, she was treated as if she was ‘their child.’ He died and she was sent to a nursing home;family couldn’t care for her & called a high kill shelter, Paulding Co Animal Control. I worked with Tracey Thompson,Director of Shelter, in coordinating a foster for Boots. She was scheduled to be put to sleep on Nov. 15. She was picked up on Nov 18 by Jennifer and Alex and was taken to their vet on Saturday 11/20 due to coughing and dirrhea(Shelter had done health check and rabies only)Diagnosed with Distemper and given antibiotics and brought up to date on all shots and HW check. Boots is very gentle and mild natured. She loves to take walks and walks very easily on a leash. She does not jump up on you when greeting. After the first few minutes of slowly chasing my cat, she now ignores him.
Boots has been in foster care since 11/17 in Atlanta. She is recovering from her infection, and has been groomed so she is clean and shiny. She will be on her way to her new home in Portland, Maine, in January.
CorgiAid supporters have picked up the tab on Boots’s medical expenses, so that she could be healthy and fit to join her new family.
