Giggles

Sadly, not every rescue story has a happy ending.
Here is Giggles’ story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Giggles came to me through a general rescue in the area that took in 5 corgis from a breeder surrender. We had her spayed right away. She was supposed to have her stitches out on Jan 10. They had healed well and she was such a lovely girl, especially with little kids. I found her dead in her crate at 4am on Friday morning, with a bloody rear. We did a necropsy later that day, While we did not test for vWD, both vets attending the necropsy agreed that her death was due to the inability to clot enough to keep her from bleeding out. All sutures from the spay were checked and double checked for possible error, no error was made in the spay. Cause of death ruled as complications of von Willebrand disease.”
(Von Willebrand is a genetic clotting disorder that is a known problem in Pembroke corgis.)
Unfortunately, despite love and care, Giggles will not be going forward to lead a happy life.
