Tucker

Here is Tucker’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“Tucker was a stray who made friends with a gentleman walking to the end of his rural road to get the mail. The gentleman called us to take Tucker. Tucker was certainly the worse for wear. He was wet from the rain, very dirty, and had a baseball size hard lump under his chin extending to his throat. Nevertheless, he jumped, literally, into my arms when I got out of my car. I guess that he saw the Corgi decals.
“Off we went to the vet. A fine needle was done on the lump. There were abnormal cells. The decision was to put him on antibiotics for two weeks to try to reduce the swelling, then biopsy. Over the weekend the lump developed a small rupture with blood and nice green pus covering his bed.
“Off to the vet. Tucker was scheduled for surgery the next morning. My vet discovered a five inch hole extending into his neck and just missing the lymph node. His opinion was that either someone poked Tucker with a sharp object or that he had run into a limb which punctured his throat. Through all of this Tucker remained a great little guy, even kissing our vet good-bye. Very comical considering Tucker had his head wrapped like a swami.
“We have discovered that Tucker knows many commands: sit, down, stay, come, get the ball, leave it, quite, go to your bed, and more. He loves to play ball. He plays with the other foster dogs. One must wonder how anyone did not look for him.”
