Here is Royal’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“Royal was picked up as a stray by animal control. My contact at the shelter called me with a super urgent need help message. I went to visit Royal on Wednesday and was in shock at what I found. Without a vet’s diagnosis, what I could see was demodectic mange, yeast infections, several large boils that had ruptured, possible upper respiratory problems. He really wanted me to love and pet him, but also seemed very aware of how awful he looked and smelled. He attempted to get in my lap, but the shelter staff told me I could not touch him. He needed help NOW! But, despite efforts on my part and others at the shelter, I was not allowed to take him until his 5 day stray hold was up. It was up Saturday. I thought, well, if he survives that, then at least we know he has the will to live. We were able to convince the powers at the shelter to start him on antibiotics and ivermectin, to give him a head start and possibly make him more comfortable. Saturday morning, he was still alive and looked very slightly better. He rode well in the car and is currently at the vet now on IV support and fluids for dehydration and starvation, antibiotics for full scale infection and will be tested for kidney and liver function. We hope he makes it.”
CorgiAid supporters have helped Royal get the care he needed to overcome all of these horrible issues. This sweet guy is feeling much better now. Thank you!
Royal was rescued in Oklahoma.
