The Story of Sofia

Last Updated: February 02, 2013

Rescuer: Denise Townsley at townsleyclan@msn.com

Here is Sofia’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Sofia was purchased by a couple from a commercial breeder in 2007. She was retired and sold as a pet. Last fall they purchased two JRT puppies and decided that Sofia was the odd man out. She had just been spending all of her time in her kennel. They no longer wanted her, so they contacted me and asked me to find her a home. I have a soft spot for seniors so I agreed to take her. Her vet care had been neglected for years and she was being free-fed cheap dog food. She is hugely obese. She needed everything updated. Luckily she is basically healthy and just needed a tune up.
“Sofia acts like she had been ignored. She loves the attention she is getting here. She doesn’t know a stranger and likes to give kisses. She really enjoys the company of the other corgis here too. She is very sweet and happy girl especially after getting her mouth cleaned up. She now responds to her name. Sofia is on a sensible diet of quality senior food and is losing weight and feeling much better. She was not leash trained when she arrived but now enjoys a walk with the pack. She was 36 lbs when she arrived and has already lost 3 lbs, we have a goal of 23 lbs.”
CorgiAid supporters will help Sophia get a clean and healthy mouth, so she can go forward and lead the happy life she deserves. Thank you!
Sophia was rescued in Kansas.

This dog is available for adoption. Please contact Denise Townsley at townsleyclan@msn.com for more information.
