Here is Katie’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Katie is an obese 13 year old Pembroke corgi who was surrendered to the shelter just before Thanksgiving when her mom passed away and dad had to move to a nursing home. The other family members brought her to the shelter with no veterinary information. The shelter was told the pets were seen at Petsmart for their vet care, but when Banfield was contacted, there were no records available. The examining vet could not see a scar from a spray surgery and a family member was contacted (not sure who this was) and assured the shelter Katie was spayed. She weighed a whopping 42 pounds but doesn’t appear to have issues walking in spite of her obesity.”
It turned out that Katie had not been spayed…. CorgiAid supporters have helped Katie get up to speed on her health care, including the spay recommended by her vet, a clean and healthy mouth, and, of course, all of her vaccinations. Thank you!
