As strongly as we all wish every rescue story could have a happy ending, reality is not that kind.
Tissue alert…..
Here is Molly’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Molly was turned into our rescue because supposedly she wasn’t getting enough attention. The couple had four children and were expecting a fifth. We were told that she was great with people and other dogs.
“What I discovered when I got Molly home was that she was the most anxious dog that I have ever had in rescue. She paced when not in her crate and circled when in her crate. The only way to handle her was with a slip lead. If I or my husband got close to her head or neck she tried to bite.
“I took her to vet. The vet couldn’t touch her, but we watched her behavior. We agreed that whatever had happened to Molly, we were not going to be able to fix. In order to check her out we had to cover her head with a towel, then give her an anesthetic. We euthanized Molly. As much as I hated it, she is now in a much better place than she apparently had in life.”
It would be nice if love could fix any problem. Reality is that some things are broken beyond repair. 🙁
