Pixie II

Pixie II was surrendered due to the older dogs in the house and her not getting along. It was a multi generational home, a family of 4 becoming 6, with 4 dogs, 2 kittens, and 2 young children. It was just too much activity. They didn’t “have the money” to treat her eyes (dry eye), and Pixie came to into rescue overweight, blind and with most of her teeth (19 to be exact) needing to be pulled. She had dry eye, not producing any tears, her corneas were scarred, cracked and she had corneal ulcers in both eyes, the right eye ulcer had penetrated through cornea but is trying to repair itself. She also has a cherry eye but that will be left unless it causes issues. She had the usual preventative treatments and tests. She will be on Tacrilomus drops to help the eyes produce tears for the rest of her life. She may require eye surgery later if the corneal ulcers do not heal. With love, care and time, she should be able to feel much better, even though her vision will likely never completely come back.
