Marcie was found when she was about 4 weeks old. Her purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi momma Samantha was a stray and raising her and her 5 littermates on her own. She had them well hidden near some dense woods in a rural community and had dug a nest for them under an old shed. Good samaritans contacted rescue about Sammy and her brood and they were able to bring them all safely into rescue.
The wrist of Marcie’s left foreleg is not as developed as her others and is also missing some toe digits. The cause is unclear, perhaps congenital or something that occured before birth that affected the development of that wrist/toes.
Marcie appears in overall good health and is developing normally. She is not at all hindered by her condition and keeps up with her littermates just fine. She walks, runs,climbs, and tumbles just like all other active pups her age.
It is yet unclear if she may need surgery or other possible intervention measures as she grows and develops. We will hear back from Dr. Anderson with VSS the week of 8/26 after he compares radiograph films to assess her current condition.
