The Story of Karli |

Here is Karli’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“Pretty Karli was found by a farm family in their barn. They assumed that she was dumped on their road, and found her way to their barn. They called us.
“Karli was a beautiful senior girl. The moment that she walked into her foster home she made a dash for the dog bed. She made herself at home. She was funny and smart and loved by all.
“Karli had a mammary tumor that was diagnosed as positive for cancer. She also had very severe hip dysplasia. When we got her she was malnourished and had a UTI. She desperately need a dental but we were waiting until she put on some weight before we could do anything other than blood work, biopsy, and x-rays.
“Karli won all our hearts with her zest for life. Within a couple of days in her foster home, she was doing her best to run for the door at the sound of the bell. She bossed the other Corgis in her foster home. She slept in her foster dad’s bed. We were determined that the girl, once left on a country road to die alone, was going to have the best, and she did. And every day until the end she smiled her special smile for us.
“Karli was put to sleep. She fought a great fight but in the end it was her hips. She could no longer walk and with the cancer we decided not to treat.”
As much as we wish every rescue story could have a happy ending, sometimes the dogs are in such rough shape that the best, kindest, thing to be done is help them not have more pain.
