Here is Gracie’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“On September 12th I was told that there was a corgi at the pound. I went to check and there she was–a huge chunk of corgi with matted hair and a cherry-eye that had green yuck all over it. She waddled up to the gait of the dog run and I knew I had to help her. I was told by the staff at the pound that she was found running as a stray and if no one claimed her she was going to be put down on Monday, September 17th. She was deemed unadoptable by the shelter because of her weight and the problem with her cherry-eye. A local all-breed rescue was not able to help her because they are short are funds, and are currently unable to take on any dogs with anything other than a routine spay or neuter. So, for the Chunk-O-Corgi, we were it. I picked her up after work on Friday, September 14th. She had clumps of hair falling out, red scabs and bumps on her belly (urine scald), sores on her hind legs. I doubt that she’s been brushed or bathed in years.
“She was so happy to be cleaned up. You could see her smiling. She’s a super sweet girl. She gets along with my very bitchy bitches, my male, and my cat. She loves everyone.”
CorgiAid supporters will help Gracie get healthy (including taking care of her cherry eye), so she can go forward and lead the happy life she deserves. Thank you!
Gracie was rescued in Texas.
