The Story of Layla

Last Updated: October 19, 2012

Here is Layla’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“I received a call from a man in a southwest rural area of he state. He told me that a Corgi was wandering his property. He couldn’t find the owner and that she was limping. I ask him to take her to the veterinarian in Springfield, MO that we use. He was kind and concerned so he agreed. Layla had no chip, no collar tags, or tattoo. She has her tail so we are sure that she was another product of the rural BYB or small mill.
“She doesn’t like all dogs, especially intact boys. She does well here with all but our one intact male waiting for neuter. She adores people.
“Layla has obviously had a rough life. She came in with healing scabs all over her body, heartworm positive, under weight, and we discovered that she was limping due to a broken femur that had been broker for some time. The top half of the femur was lying next to the bottom half and extended by approximately 1 1/2 inches. x-rays available.”
CorgiAid supporters are helping Layla get healthy. She has had her heartworm treatment, and has been spayed. She will have her painful and unuseable leg removed after she has recovered from the spay. Thank you! Layla really needed you!
Layla was rescued in Missouri.
