| The Story of Anna Marie |

Here is Anna Marie’s story, in the words of her rescuer:
“We took Anna from a shelter in rural Illinois when she was 5 months old. She was severely malnourished, yet a little sweetie. Almost no coat, no eyeliner, limping, green teeth. I have attached photos. She had a UTI when she entered the shelter as a stray. The shelter treated her for two weeks and did not follow up. Anna was leaking urine and they were going to adopt her to an outside home. I read Ectopic Ureters between the lines and we adopted her. She looked like a senior dog! Off to our vet. Anna had an ecoli infection in her bladder.
“We treated for 30 days, recultured, then treated another 30 days. During this time she put on weight and became a puppy. Then Anna began to act lethargic, wouldn’t eat, and had a high temp. Off to ER. Long story short, Anna Marie had Parvo. Yes, she had been vaccinated. Tests show that she is a non-reactor which means she does not build antibodies to Parvo. She was at the ER/Specialty Clinic for almost eight days. Twice we thought that we would loose her, but she’s a fighter and she made it through.
“Now home for over a week, she is eating and playing. Regarding the Ectopic Ureters, yes she has EU. Therefore her urine is not going into the bladder but to the urethra, vagina, and uterus. And this of course causes the consistent leaking of urine. That’s a whole other issue that we will address after Anna has regained all of her strength. She will go to University of Tennessee for surgery.”
