Monte was brought into a county animal shelter by a good Samaritan after witnessing him getting hit by two cars. The shelter contacted rescue to let them know he would need a rescue since he had two broken femurs and lacerations to the head and ear. Monte was in good spirits despite his injuries. The shelter performed x-rays, gave vaccines and tested for heartworm.
After further diagnostics at the veterinary specialists, it was learned that Monte had a severed nerve in his right leg due to the broken femur. He also had bruising and external compression of the lumbar region and a bulging disc (no treatment needed at this time) at the upper lumbar area. The plan was to repair the left femur, amputate the right rear leg and complete castration due to massive trauma to the scrotum. He had surgery and the repair of his left leg, amputation of his right and castration were a success. He has a long way to go with healing and rehab but is doing well. Monte was fortunate that CorgiAid has caring donors to be there when dogs are in need and don’t have an owner to care for them.
