The Story of Sparky |

Here is Sparky’s story, in the words of his rescuer:
“Found as a stray in North Alabama, Sparky is a bit of a senior that hasn’t been well cared for, so he’s got a laundry list of things to take care of. The good news is he has plenty of spark still! He also has round and hook worms, a few old dog lumps that need to be removed, old dog opacity to his eyes that I hope aren’t full on cataracts, a dirty mouth, and most troubling, a hitch in his get-along. Doc says possible old disc issue not treated, spondylosis, or??? X-rays, etc. to come once the other easier stuff gets taken care of. For all that, he’s quite an active and happy guy!
“Aside from getting Sparky up to speed on routine vaccinations and teeth cleaning, more testing will need to be done to determine the status of his eyes and rear legs. He seems to see well, but there is something wrong with his rear – seems ataxic. It’s not yet known whether it’s an old, untreated injury, something neurological, or a myriad of other possibilities. I just picked him up on Friday, so his other issues need to be addressed first before we get to work on the harder diagnosis. He does have reflex and deep-pain sensation, so not DM? He gets around easily on carpet and grass, slippery on tile, but manages a few stairs even. Very happy guy. Estimate is way out there – not even ballpark – until we start getting some actual diagnostics done. Just want to get him un-wormy, get some good nutrition into him, and vax, etc. before we start on that.”
CorgiAid supporters will help Sparky get shined up on his health care, and will help with the diagnostics intended to identify his mobility issues. Thank you! We are hoping for something that can be fixed, or that it is easy to keep him comfortable and happy.
Sparky was rescued in Alabama.
